Dated- 27th August 2016: All India Inter School IPSC Badminton Tournament commenced today at Pestle Weed College Dehradun. The Inaugural Ceremony of the tournament was graced by the benign presence of Brig Tapan Shah, Brigadier Training, Indian Military Academy, Dehradun as the Chief Guest. The ceremony commenced with a splendid show off March Past followed by the oath ceremony. In this tournament, 22 schools from diverse states of the country are contesting for the U-14, U-17 & U-19 yrs Boys Championships. The Chief Guest of the day, Brig Tapan Shah, Brigadier Training, Indian Military Academy was introduced to all the participants whom he personally wished good luck for the tournament. In his address, Brig Shah encouraged and advised the players to play with true sportsman spirit and keep the sanctity of the game. He said, “Life is a packet full of highs & lows, we must learn to manage the highs & lows of the life. Never take the success to your head and never take the failure to your heart.” Brig Shah appreciated the efforts of Pestle Weed College and Mr. Prem Kashyap in particular for providing such wonderful platforms for the budding talents to sharpen their skills and techniques. Shri Prem Kashyap, Principal, Pestle Weed College wished good luck to all the participants and advised them to play with the true sportsman spirit. Shri Kashyap threw light on the history of Badminton and mentioned about the popularity of this game in India as Indian players have uplifted the standard of this game in the country and have proved their mettle at International level. Till the recording of the scores, the results of the day are as follows: - In U-19 championship, DPS Mathura Road entered semifinals whereas The Doon School, Modern School, Barakhamba Road and Emerald Heights, Bangalore are leading in their respective pools. In U-17 championship, Daly College Indore and Welham Boys School have made their ways to the quarter finals whereas The Doon School has secured victory in its pool. In U-14 championship, Vallabh Ashram Gujarat have qualified for the quarter finals, whereas DPS RK Puram, Daly College Indore, Lawrence School Sanawar and Modern School Barakhamba Road are leading in their respective pools.
