All India Principals & Teachers Conference inaugurated at Pestle Weed College with a intellectual feast from Eminent Educationist Dated: 16th December 2016, A three day Conference of Principals and Teachers Conference of Schools affiliated to CBSE/CISCE/State Board began this morning at Pestle Weed College. The Conference is being organized under the ages of National Executive Committee of Principals Progressive Schools’ Association, Uttarakhand on the theme “People matter: Growing Self, Growing Others, Growing Community” for Principals and “Innovate, Motivate, Differentiate” for Teachers. Approximately 300 teachers participated in this Conference. The Chief Guest of the Inaugural Ceremony was Dr. Kamal Taori, IAS (Retd.) Economist & Eminent Educationist and the Guests of Honour were Maj Gen (Retd.) Chander Nandwani VSM and Maj Gen (Retd) K N Bhatt, AVSM, Former Additional Director General, Army Education Corps. The Conference Chairperson, Dr. S.C. Biala presented the Key Note Address whereby he expressed his views on the elite themes of the conference, and urged the august gathering to have the child focus teaching where learning is a joy, doing is a pleasure and accomplishment is a habit, where the co-operation comes out of compassion coupled with threatening free environment where knowledge is shared and ideas are executed. The Guest of Honour, Maj Gen (Retd.) K N Bhatt, AVSM, Additional Director General, Army Edu. Corps threw light on the role of school in the present scenario. He said, “We don’t have to look school education in a narrow prospective, it is a much wider term”. Gen Bhatt further added that a teacher has to be innovating, motivating and must have the ability to differentiate with a respect for the differences devoid of caste, creed, background etc. but it has to be based on individual needs, capacities and capabilities of every child. Maj Gen Chander Nandwani while addressing the august gathering stressed on the nexus between the Public schools and Govt. education departments in order to ensure balanced and continuous development of the Student Community. The Chief Guest of the day, Dr. Kamal Taori, IAS (Retd.) Economist and an eminent educationist, appreciated the effort of the organizers and particularly the President of PPSA, Mr. Prem Kashyap who have been doing a commendable job in the educational upliftment of the State of Uttarakhand as well as the country. In his address, Dr. Taori advised the teachers not to confined themselves within the prescribed syllabus, the teachers have to be creative innovative, creative and imaginative. He stressed that learning is not limited to the contents of the books but much beyond that.   The President PPSA, Mr. Prem Kashyap expressed the aims & objectives of Principals Progressive Schools’ Association before the august gathering and the eminent dignitaries present on the occasion. Shri Kashyap said, “PPSA is committed to uplifting the educational standards and keeping the teachers & Principals updated with the latest advancements in teaching and learning methodologies.” Maj Gen Chander Nandwani one of the Resource Person, expert in Interpersonal Relationship and Management Deliberation elaborated his views on ‘Interpersonal Relationships’. He very categorically said, “Every person has a parent, an adult and a child within him/her, one behaves in the influence of either of these attributes in a particular situation’. Gen Nandwani’s session was an intellectual treat to the delegates and the dignitaries present on the occasion. Dr. (Mrs.) Geetika Mehrotra, Principal PWCIT one of the Resource Person elaborated her views on ‘Imparting Moral Values in Students’. She said that moral values determine our world and it is the duty of both, the parents and teachers to imbibe these values in the child. Dr. (Mrs.) Sheela Taori expressed her views on the sub theme ‘Assessment competencies in the 21st Century’ wherein she elaborated that the assessment must be purposeful. She said, “In addition to the core subjects, schools must have Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Decision Making and Collaborative Activities in order to ensure multidimensional and holistic development of the students.
